busy bees

It's been killing me to be off the bike so much the past week or so, but I've remained super busy and still don't have internet or even a computer set up at the new place so pardon the limited posting.  Hopefully that will all change by next weekend when with any luck I'll be heading to Wausau to go mountain biking all weekend.  For now watch this.

treepocolypse

If you live around here you already know there was a serious storm yesterday.  So for the TNR we just rode around and surveyed the destruction.  Pretty wild stuff.

This last one is the jungle formerly known as Carson Park.

Auf Wiedersehen

Regular readers may note that I've been whining a lot about being busy lately.  Here's the deal, there are a lot of big changes coming up for me and consequently this blog in the next month or so.  One of the biggest being that  I will be moving.  I'll divulge those details later, but right now it is with a heavy heart that I announce the dissolution of Bike House.

This house has been passed down through friends for half a decade and I've lived here for 3 of those years. I've spent countless hours hanging out in the yard, wrenching on bikes in the living room, listening to music with friends, and drinking beers in this house.  The place had endless charm and I am going to miss living here a ton.

I don't think I'm being presumptuous when I say it is probably one of the most storied homes in Eau Claire cycling and it will be missed.

I just hope whoever moves in here next is cool with me coming over and setting up the kiddie pool some summer day in the future.

back

It's been a crazy week or so and I really haven't had much time to post anything. Compounded with some nasty allergies and a busted camera you will have to forgive me. But today I'm relaxing a bit and after carefully using the corner of the coffee table trick on my camera it sparked back to life. It's been some of the best weather Wisconsin has to offer so I've also been sneaking in as much bike riding as I can and finding new ways home.

One of the absolute highlights as of late that will undoubtedly go down in my greatest hits book was catching David Bazans house show in Eau Claire last week.  Yes, David Bazan in Eau Claire.  No kidding right?
When I heard Bazan was planning on doing a house show in Eau Claire I could hardly believe it.  Pedro The Lion has long been one of those bands that when I start listening to I have a hard time not sitting down and listening to the entire catalog before I can stop.  Hands down one of the best songwriters of our time and as funny and gracious of an artist as you could ever hope for. If you can't tell I'm still pretty starstruck from seeing him in the comfort of a friends living room surrounded by familiar faces in a city I love.

More updates later, but for now take this in.

M.I.A.

Pardon the lack of posts.  I've effectively been incapacitated by allergies all week and on top of that my camera is busted.  Doing the Ronde in about an hour though, so if you really need some more of my witty comentary you should come ride it too.  See you out there.

It was a crazy busy stressful week getting everything ready for Valleycat.  Now I'm finally relaxing and catching up on this stuff.  Wednesday Alex and I had a fun little ride in the sun.

Monday

It's shaping up to be a long week.  I kind of figured it would so yesterday I made sure I had time to go for a little ride.  I went out and hit the Big Falls loop with a few stops at Phillips County Park and any other random trail section I could find.

I stopped down at the falls which are massive right now for a quick snack before hitting the road.  The weather was amazing and I was grinning ear to ear the whole time thinking about ho much I love living here.
On the way home I helped a scaredy pants turtle across the road.
Then I ate a huge salad and an awesome sandwich.
 And made bread.
All in all it was a pretty decent way to finish a pretty crappy day.
