SVM

There are a bunch of pictures of the Menomonie ice race up on the Volume One website right now, including this gem of our boy Dane rolling around. Looks like a blast, and I'm kind of bummed I missed it. Anyway, check out more photos here.

comfort

Regular readers of this blog know that I have a tendency to post gratuitous pictures of food and people eating. Why? I really like good food. I love cooking it, eating it, and sharing it with friends and family. The past few days have been non-stop snow and freezing rain which had caused me the biggest headache of a commute imaginable, taking 35 minutes instead of regularly 15. So to blow off stress and provide some much needed snow shoveling/trekking/commuting carbs I've been making lots of food. And to encourage you to get in the kitchen and do a little snowy day cooking yourself I decided to dedicate this entire post to the food of Bikeec past and present. Just a note, I'm a long time vegetarian and all of the food shown is either veg or vegan, yum! Enjoy!

Above: Last nights dinner. Beer/cheese bread with chipotle sweet potatoes and 3 cheese baked ziti.
Broccoli heavy pan noodles
Annual Thanks-curry dinner, lots of different lentil curries, naan, vegan steaks, dumplings and rice.
Ultimate camping breakfast, potatoes, veggie sausage, seasoning, onions, and butter. Wrap it up, throw it on the fire, and enjoy.
Every summer once produce starts getting cheap I try to juice as much as I can. It's good for you, it tastes amazing, and it's fun/easy to do.
Vegan nachos and juice in Portland.
This is the kind of overindulgence that stops me from being vegan. Scrambled eggs with peppers garlic mushrooms and cheese on a bagel with farmer to farmer coffee.
Veg philly cheese steak sandwich.
Pizza farm!
Sushi and wine at Shanghai
Digging in at Pizza Luce in Minneapolis.

It's kind of sick how many pictures of food I have on my computer, this is just the tip of the iceberg. But it will do for now. Stay warm, dry, and hungry.

find

It's not to often bikes like this 1981 Motobecane Le Champion make an appearance on Eau Claire Craigslist. Original owner and full stock Campy Nuovo Record even. If only I had $600 to drop on it I could finally get my hands on the road bike I've been wanting. *Hint

pain

Sometimes you just have to ride through it. Even when their is a 6 inch splinter going through your leg. The guy took third.

Tipped off Prolly, photos from the UCI World Cup of Track Cycling going on right now.

walker

Worse, most rash, hostile, shortsighted governor of Wisconsin EVER. Who else agrees? Barack Obama. In regards to the $810 million in funding for light rail that Walker just said no thanks to.

And while your at it don't forget to support NPR and PBS.

Man this place is looking bad right now...

heatwAVE

Friday when I left for work it was -10, on my ride home it was 27. 37 degree increase in the course of a workday. It's 40 outside right now and all of that Friday night snow is nowhere to be found. That said it's time to go for a ride. I suggest the same for everyone.

cr

After getting back from the Stupor Bowl I noticed some noise coming out of my drivetrain. I have been planning on replacing everything once it got a little bit warmer, but I figured I might as well check it out and see what was going on. 9 teeth had busted off. Suffice it to say I think I found out why I dropped my chain during the Stuporbowl, either that or found the consequences of dropping it.

TNR tonight
Goldsprints at the Acoustic Cafe in Menomonie tomorrow
And "St. Valentines Day Hustle" in Menomonie on Sat. Details?

"A bicycle race. In February. In the middle of a lake.

$5 to enter with 1/2 of the proceeds going to the Dunn County Humane Society. Registration begins at 12:00 with the race starting at 2:00PM.

Special refreshments to be available in the form of Bell's Hopslam and Central Water Brewing Bourbon Barrel Stout."

See ya'll tonight!

big league

Wow, it's been a pretty packed couple of days. It was definitely nice to be able to sleep in today and catch a big greasy breakfast with Jen. Saturday was the Stuporbowl which was just beyond words fun. Magyar fought through a fever and we drove up early to get the manifest early and start planning. The race was just insane, I feel sorry for anyone in a car in downtown Minneapolis during the 3 hours of the race because they were surrounded by a couple hundred of the rowdiest, lawless cyclists you will ever see.
I didn't get many photos because we were busy cranking the whole race to really worry about photos. We eneded up riding the whole thing with a Chicago guy who was awesome and it was nice to roll with another out of towner. We got through two of the three manifests, but by the time we got back to Trash Bags for the third manifest we only had 45 minutes left and agreed to call it quits and go get some much earned food. Again, words can not describe this race, if you missed it this year, go next year, it's insane. However, if you are at all afraid of riding through traffic don't bother.
Sunday was back to work then the Superbowl, which was awesome. Monday more work and curling, and finally a day off today.
That pretty much brings things up to speed. While surfing the web today I found this Osiris ad that Eau Claire's own Arik Elstran is in.

And finally TNR in a few days and Goldsprints in Menomonie on Friday at the Acoustic Cafe, I think a few of us in EC are going to try to make it out so you should try too.

Go Pack Go!

Growing up I never really cared about sports at all. Really, I guess I still don't. But the more I read about the Packers and the more games I watch the more I really really like them. So yes, this is an obligatory pro-Packers post.

Who else loves the Pack? Lil Wayne apparently... I've had that song stuck in my head since I first heard it last night.

movi

I haven't posted any videos in a while. There are a few reasons why, 1. A lot of them seem really repetitive and boring. 2. I have a hard time getting over the over the top obnoxious cliche rap that seems mandatory in every single one. Anyway I'm killing some time before work and found some stuff that I actually find pretty cool. So here it is.
