Roads under roads

Last night was 100%. A nice sized group showed up and the majority of us seemed pretty dead or in bad moods but the ride continued none the less. We hit single track stopped for beverages along the trail and waded around a stream splashing around having a sweet beach party. Some wood trolls messed wit hour bikes but we pulled them from their clutches and rode on. Stopped at Mega picked up some more beverages and the group split up. Some went home others went to go dumpster diving. The rest of us rode out through Altoona and ended up on a shitty stretch of single track under a bridge in a patch of poison ivy picking ticks off.

We retreated back to the place we had a fire a while ago under River Prairie Drive and started up a small fire. Damian showed up with smores fixins and we ate a ridiculous amount of marshmallows. Then the police showed up. I am happy that I have friends that are cool as cucumbers when multiple cop cars and volunteer firefighters show up at a camp fire itching to give out tickets. One last drink was had before dumping the remaining beer on the fire and putting it out with the bucket of water we had brought up.

IDs were checked, breathalyzers were blown, apologies were exchanged, a giggle fest was had, and we headed out. Perfect execution on all parts.
Next Thursday is Magyars last for a while, show up and lets one-up last night. +MVP sweater will be brought out.

new whats next

Since release from the clutches of the academy I have neglected this sweet little corner of the internet. I guess that is a lie because I neglected it prior as well, but lets not dwell on that. Summer is here and it is time to focus on the new. So what is up? Answer:not much.

It's hard to remember the happenings of the past few weeks unless I sit down and write them down after they happen, which I clearly havnt done, thus making me bad blogger. Speaking of things I'm bad at. I am terrible at summer. Whenever summer comes around it makes me want to do really really irresponsible things like quit my job and drive to Mexico. Or go camping up north for a month. And as I approach the end of my academic career the future becomes more and more daunting. Summer, every day, for eternity? waking up every day and realizing I have no test in the morning, no book to read, nor paper to write. Just the obligation of paying off the debts of those books and papers and exams. Then once that is done what happens next? Im not so much intimidated by the future, but a little curious. I feel like a lot of people have been asking me questions about what I am going to do after college and the answer is always a prety standard "I dont know" and more frequently that has been delivered with a tone of carelesness.

That said there are a lot of things I do know I want in the future and I feel like all the planning that is expected of us makes people lose touch with the few things they do control.

I think I ranted about this before, so it must just bea re-occuring thing. Which means no matter how much I think I have a grasp on it I'm only fooling myself. But hey, that's better than nothing.

So what is important right now?

Caught on tape!

Rare footage of the EC "hipster community".

Featuring, double decker couches, bands with beards, an accordian, and a bunch of bikes locked to a tree. As well as some very shady characteres who may be spottted on the occasional Thursday night ride.*

9 times out of 5

My liver is smiling, and I am finally fully recovered from the Valleycat on Saturday. If you missed it then I feel very sorry for you. I really don't know what to say othr than it was an awesome time. 10 checkpoints, the winner, bikethink's own Dan Green did 33 miles. I decided it would be a good strategy to get lost on country roads and probobly did around 37 or something and came in 14th. The important parts come after the race is run though.

Despite our bodies trying to push us into a coma, second winds were achieved and by 9pm 240 beers were drank and a beer run was on it's way back. A rediculous amount of chips, brats, burgers, and little debbies were also consumed. There are probably more awesome goofy antics that happened that I could never remember(rollers on a picnic table, wrastle club, super heros and robots showing up, mad dance party, fires, bikes in trees) or express and I don't nesecarily belive that a picture is worth a thousand words, I am more of the persuasion that the most important things happen when cameras are not around, and pictures rarely do justice to their subject matter. But in an effort to express how awesome this was here are a bunch of pictures stolen from Betty and Derek. Enjoy!

Thats all. hats off to Derek and Magyar for organizing an awesome race, and everyone who showed up and everyone who stayed long into the night pushing the boundries of 'learning to hang.'

butterscotch

You want blog? I will give you blog!

I don't have a lot to write about and I don't have any pictures, but suffice it to say that the past couple of weeks have been really fun and filled with the unexpected good and bad.
The good:
Staying up late and drinking a ton with an old friend
Riding bike a bunch
Getting cat called on our bikes
preperation for the Valleycat (Which you had better attend)
Writing a lot of letters and utilizing the USPS to it's fullest extent.
Impromptu campfires
Mint Julips and the kentucky Derby
SUNSHINE!
Dumpster diving
Watching people at half moon lake
Unexpected lunch dates
re-discovering old music
School winding down

The Bad;
hangovers
work
school
lack of time

But really, I've been super busy with school and work and stuff, but sunshine and shorts have re-newed my hopes and ambitions. I have lots of stories to tell you, so lets hang out and ride bikes soon. Thats all for now. Enjoy the weather!
