FBM

I Love My Bicycle from Least Most on Vimeo.

As a kid I got interested in bikes the same way as a lot of other kids. My dad owned a bunch of motorcycles and I always thought that was the coolest thing ever. I couldn't really relate to his British motorcycle fetish, but I still knew that I wanted to ride a motorcycle. Then one day I saw motocross on tv and decided THAT was the coolest thing ever, and or once it was something I felt like I could understand. I started zipping back and forth up and down our gravel driveway as fast as I could trying to catch air over puddles.

Slowly I started losing interest in motocross and learning more about BMX. I got a Schwinn Powermatic Pro BMX for Christmas gave up on watching motocross and started having my dad tape BMX comps on tv as often as he could so I could watch them over and over. I started oggling over parts and clothes in Dans Comp and one company stood out to me as a the most bad ass company around. That was FBM. I recognized the fonts from the punk and hardcore music I was listening to and for once I saw something I could totally understand. Through pretty much nothing but their t-shirts and a couple videos(ALBERT ST!) they shaped my perception of what riding a bike should be like and what living a life around your bike could be like.

All that said it's awesome that FBM put this video up for free, and it deffinetly reignited my desire for that new Gypsy frame.

'nuff said.

More vacation!

wizard island

I'm back from a week of vacation in Oregon with Jen. It was nice to catch up with Thomas and finally get a chance to ride around Portland a bit(amazing!), plus I got my intro to fixed freestyle... Back in S. Oregeon we ate a ton of good food, spent a bunch of time in a hot tub drinking wine watching meteor showers, checking out the redwoods, ocean, crater lake, mountains, etc etc. It's nice to be somewhere a little more familiar though.
Yesterday Scott and I sat around all day and shared stories about his tour and my vacation and today it's back to work.
Aparently while I was gone I missed the Crit race, actually I totally forgot about it all together but I was told it was a good time and it picked up some press in the Leader-Telegram. You might recognize a couple of the faces in this picture. I like this picture of Magyar chasing down a Giant roadie on a single speed with flat bars a ton.

There is an alleycat in Oshkosh coming up soon. You can get more info here. Sounds fun and it's awesome to see more of these races popping up in WI. If anyones interested it might be fun to go represent. Speaking of races the All City Championships is now. This race looks amazing and it's just a quick to our friendly neighbors in Minneapolis. If anyone from EC makes it send some pics! Thats all for now, here are some vacation shots.

Carbon heavy commuting

Feeling lazy on account of the heat and my being a wimp and all. Chances are I won't be riding much this week either seeing as how I will be working a bunch and then on Monday Jen and I are taking off for Oregon for a week. As for what has been going on on Thursday nights lately anyone at The Finish Line two weeks ago or out on Water last Thursday around bar close should be able to to tell you. Suffice it to say lots of mischief. Thats pretty much it. TNR tomorrow .

Also the All City Championships are coming up. Sounds like a totally killer time, unfortunetly I doubt I will be able to make it(work, go figure). But it would be awesome to see an EC crew go represent though. The race is on Saturday and sounds awesome.

"Saturday - All City Championship Alleycat Race, Afterparty
It's going to be a racer's race with the most badass woman and man taking home the title of "All City Champ." If you think you're fast, show up and prove it. Men's and Women's categories with prizes for 1st through 3rd place. There will also be a masters division for men and women 35 and up, a prize for first fixed gear, and a DFL winner.

Expect picks and drops, a time trial component, and about 25 miles or so of racing. I will be posting several of the manned stops ahead of time to help level the playing field for the out of town contingent.

The awards and afterparty will be in the alley behind One on One, there will be several kegs, and hopefully Kopish and D.O. (sp?) will be spinning jams. Likely some hot derby action will ensue. There are few things better than a good party in a downtown alley, and this is going to be a good one.

There may also be a little street fair in the alley before the race for any sponsors who want to come out and setup a table and show/sell their goods. "
